The Neck
This is my work log of how work with the neck progressed:
When doing this, do not forget to think about the body too. There are many things to keep in mind, one example is how the distance of the neck effects the location of the bridge. I made both the body and the neck at the same time.
Before you commence with this you will need to choose what dimensions you want for your neck, you should also consider if you want to use a truss rod or not. I decided the dimensions during the work, but I do not recommend it.
3rd of December:
I grinded the head and drilled the hole for the plug between the neck and the head. (I also made the plug). Then I also worked a bit with improving the fastening of the neck.
I placed a screw in the hole in the neck and pressed the head against it, after that all I had to do were to drill... To make the plug I used the grinding machine on a small pice of oak.
4th of December:
Today I grinded the whole neck, I also drilled the holes for the tuning pegs. (The neck socket in the body have also been improved and is now complete.)
(In reality the spring is a bit smaller since it were not fully pressed against the body.)
Below are some pictures from when I drilled the holes for the tuning pegs, I first marked the correct places with a drill.
I also made some tests to see if I need to tilt the neck, but the bridge seems to be handling this well enough. (and I still got the possibilty to choose the height of the nut.) Therefore I am going to adjust the neck perfectly to the body as soon as I have the possibility.
