The Body
This is my work log of how work with the body progressed:
When doing this, do not forget to think about the neck too. There are many things to keep in mind, one example is how the distance of the neck effects the location of the bridge. I made both the body and the neck at the same time.
Before you commence with this you will need to choose what dimensions you want for your neck, you should also consider if you want to use a truss rod or not. I decided the dimensions during the work, but I do not recommend it.
27th of December:
Today I have used sandpaper to improve both the neck and the body.
28th of December:
Today I have continued grinding the body and the neck, but I have also began to try to make the pickguard template. On this front I have made no success as the dimensions are wrong, but I have had an Idea that might work. The idea is simply that I glue a paper with the pickguard sketch on it, I will then use the router and a file to make it perfect.
As you can see on the picture above it is not perfect as the paper itself moved, but if I glue it to the plywood next time it should be alright.
31st of December:
Today I have made the knobs, I used a hole cutter that had a diameter of 22mm. I will have to both oil them and attach them to the potentiometers when I get them. I am thinking of oiling them a couple of times more than the body to give them a darker color.
